Dream Works for Teen Vogue

Here in South Africa we are on the verge of the weather clearing up and I find myself lusting for hazy summer days. I think that is why this beautiful shoot by Sebastian Kim has inspired to me today. I love the warm, blurry feel, as if you were in a Victorian painting, which seems to match perfectly with the neutrally toned dresses. This dreamlike romantic shoot is making me ache for a sunset walk on the beach in a beautiful dress.

La Noir Partie 3: The September Issue

This month French Vogue is getting a very chic makeover. The September issue, which hits stands August 23rd, has been remodelled with a minimalistic design referencing Vogue of the 1960's and 1970's.

The September 2012 covers

Vogue 1969 and 1974

Vogue Paris editor in chief Emmanuelle Alt and Condé Nast France president Xavier Romatet say:
"Some sections have been renamed to put forward the Vogue brand. The editor’s letter now reverts to its former title, “Le point de vue de Vogue” (“Vogue’s Viewpoint” in English). New features include a fashion opinion column penned by blogger Garance Doré. The aim was to reaffirm the magazine’s point of view with a chic, timeless identity."
Did you know that Vogue Paris is the only Vogue to carry the name of a city and not a country. This is because the Parisian girl is the ultimate female icon, representing a certain chic style, taste and allure that we all aspire to be.

So leave it to Vogue to make the 2012 September issue theme a mysterious and elegant black. Kate Moss, an ohsococo and Vogue Paris fav, shares the cover with Lara Stone and Daria Werbowy who all model the same gorgeous D&G sheer dress.

Kate Moss models with Saskia de Brauw in a striking gothic black and white series, featuring D&G, Lanvin and Bottega Veneta. This editorial captures the models giving demonic stares while referencing 6th century gothic monarch attire, and accessorized with hair-raising crosses.

You can get the look with Nastygals new lookbook 'In the Mood', which features bustiers, sheer blouses, split maxi's, bones and crosses.

Like a Doll

Heather Benning, a Canadian sculptor, discovered an abandoned old house in Saskatchewan Canada. She somehow saw a project in this and over 18 months turned the house into a beautiful lifesize dollhouse. The house had been empty since the 1960's and was donated to her by the owners. She began to transform the inside to portray a tomb-like dollhouse interior, keeping the layout generally the same. It is encapsulating a time that will never exist again. She closed up the house with Plexi-glass, making it inaccessible like a real dollhouse. She also left the exterior as it was to show the passage of time the house has gone through.
Wouldn't you love to live there?

To end I have paired off this post with a creepy and amazing editorial from one of my favourite photographers, Tim Walker. Lindsey Wixson plays a dreamy, wide eyed doll (reminiscent of Angelina in Girl Interrupted) for Vogue Italia. Lindsey is styled in sugar spun parfait sweets by Jacon K with hair and makeup by Sam Bryant.

Now you can dress and live like a doll :p

Presenting: Rita Ora

So who is this gorgeous call that 'Asos' has marked as a style icon? Well Rita Ora is the new Rhianna of course as well as Jay-Z's protegee. The British singer songwriters style is described as 'punkish tartan and decadent baroque worn with a khaki parka (the headline piece of the season) and a sick embellished bomber. Her signature red lip and that girl-done-good smile finishes the look. '

Her style makes a great (and contradictory) mix of high fashion feminine-street grunge punk and she compares her style to Gwen Stefani and Rhianna.

Asos has a celeb 'Get the look' section for Rita and I am absolutely loving it. Head to the site to find out how to imitate the stars unique style.

My fav outfit on the site consists of this teaspoon 'goldrush' embellished bodysuit, stunning denim shorts mixed with chunky grunge gold jewellery and black flatforms.
All available on Asos.

What do you think of Rita Ora?

The Red Bottomed Fairytale Shoes

Disney is set to re release the classic 1950’s fairytale ‘Cinderella’ and with this release there has been much Disney hype amongst top designers, who are giving the princesses a couture make over. Disney asked Christian Louboutin to recreate the iconic Cinderella glass slipper in conjunction with the release of the movie. The beautiful shoe was unveiled at Paris Fashion Week and only 20 pairs were made making them a limited edition collector’s item.

"The slipper is the magic wand of transformation, which conjures confidence, beauty and love,"Louboutin tells Vogue UK. "The dream is a major factor in my language of design. There are no limits in the world of fantasy and there is always a happily ever after."

The shoes will be given away to 20 lucky recipients around the world and will be accompanied by the short film 'The Magic of the Glass Slipper: A Cinderella Story'. A 10-minute movie showing the manufacture of shoes by Christian Louboutin. He plays a romantic, pensive cobbler in a short Disney clip about the making of the shoe. Louboutin will announce more information on the shoe giveaway Aug. 17

The 5 inch peep toes are definitely not made of glass for our modern day fairytale, although the white lace shoe adorned with beautiful Swarovski crystals leaves them virtually see through. The butterfly appliqués make the shoes come alive with the transformation of Cinderella. Of course Louboutin kept his trade mark red soles, for what would a princess be wearing these days other than Louboutin.

This Disney reawakening doesn’t end here. Harrods is rumoured to be paying homage to all the iconic Disney princesses in their window display this Christmas. Top designers, like Valentino, Ellie Saab, Versace and Oscar del a Renta, will recreate couture versions of the Disney dresses to grace their window this Christmas. The fairytale continues as Harrods will also dedicate its 4th floor to put on Disney themed events, with pop up boutiques and limited edition pieces. We can’t wait! If you are in London over Christmas be sure to check this out!

Tell me: Would you want to wear these? Let me know in the comments!
