So I was lucky enough to get invited to a private Batman premier here in South Africa to get an early screening of the movie. I must say although not the hugest Anne Hathaway fan, she definitely gets the award for best outfit. Her retro pencil skirt suit was quite lovely and classic. And I am in love with the cropped leather gloves and oversized bag.
Here in miserable Cape Town I have started to lust for summer days and what goes best with your fav summer outfit? Well a pair of couture sunnies I guess :) On one of my trend resources I came across the couture brand A-Morir with the tagline 'High End Hand Embellished Luxury Eyewear made to Razzle Dazzle'. Worn by the likes of Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj they are also proudly recognised by Nina Garcia (Fashion Director of Elle and Marie Claire). Go follow her pinterest page for constant fashion updates.
The Spring/Summer 12 Collection is inspired by the music of the 20's, 70's and 90's and also from the icons of those decades. Everyone from Etta James to Cher to Yoko :) Each item is hand made with premium materials, such as Swarovski crystals, spikes, lace, studs, pearls and many other luxe materials.
Here are some of my fav pieces:
Number one is the'Halford' and number two is called 'Sabotage'. These pieces would go perfectly with the Wildfox darker range for an ultimate statement outfit
So yesterday was a big day for 10 year old New York fashion house Rag & Bone. They popped their 'advertising cherry', as Perez put it, in a big way by nabbing my old fav Kate Moss as the face of their new Fall 2012 campaign. It was shot on a derelict North London street using natural lighting and a handheld camera. Kate had minimal make up on as per usual and still looked absolutely gorgeous leaning against a post in leather trimmed attire and a slouchy white tee. In the other pic she smiles crossing the street switching her jacket to a floral and fur one. Why choose London when the brand is so American, well the campaign is running in conjunction with the opening of their first European stores. How exciting :) The range looks very minimalistic and uber trendy.
One of my fav icons is Dita Von Teese she always has the most stunning vintage and burlesque look. So if you are a fan you wont be let down by her stunning lingerie line Von Follies. Von Follies is her new vintage burlesque inspired range available at Target at reasonable prices, between $20 and $40, and goes up to and E cup. Her opening in Target looks amazing with big pics of Dita and loads of advertising.
Dita hit the runway at the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival with beautiful curvy models, which totally fitted in with the style of the show. The models were cute and edgy and donned little props like whips, suspenders, cute top hats, pin up hair and loads of sequins and feathers.
Something you literally cannot get away from online at the moment is Nasty Gal. Such an amazing brand. They have taken over the web with advertising and AMAZING clothing and shoes. What I love about them is that they do current trendy clothing as well as vintage. These are a few of my fav vintage picks. You can click on the pics to go to the site.
Super hot vintage black leather bustier for a bad-ass yet feminine look :P $128.00
This Betsey Johnson 80's black corset dress looks fab with platform boots for a night look. It would also look great with pumps and oversized sunnies for a 1950's day look $370
This vintage cream bustier has a beautiful open back and sweetheart neckline. It would make for a great festival look $88
But my favourite thing on the whole site is this pair of shoes. I would actually kill for these babies. How fab are the heels?
Cross Heel Boots $400
Nasty Gal has some gorgeous shoes that are definitely worth checking out for a punk inspired 70's or grungy 90's look.
The stunning Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is my new girl crush. Her Jessica Rabbit-esque cover for LOVE magazine had me enthralled. But what I also love about her is her gorgeous personal style. Rosie usually goes for neutral and dark coloured clothing and nothing too patterned. One of my fav looks is her leatherette pants (which are so hot right now) with a neutral or white sheer blouse for a glam look or black shorts or a maxi skirt with a vest for a casual day look. A little black and white always looks classy.
So I have been looking for an update on my Audrey Hepburn LBD.
For my personal style this years LBD will be the ultimate item that you can dress both up and down. I want something that I can wear to a festival with flats or to a fancy pants dinner with heels. Looking all across my favourite stores I decided that Brandy Melville has by far the cutest LBD's (and model :) ).
As you can see on my Pinterest I am completely obsessed with the backs of dresses and that's why I LOVE these dresses from Brandy Melville. It provides an opportunity for cute or sexy undergarments. For a festival you can add a bikini top or bandeau or for a night on the town you can add one of Brandy Melvillesbra's, bralettes or lace holster bodices. If you haven't been onto this site you really must go check it out. So these are my three picks for The Ultimate LBD:
