When I came across this book I got giddy with excitement. With a release date yet to be confirmed I have put it on my wishlist onloot. Benjamin LaCombe, one of my favourite illustrators has released a fabulous illustrated edition of Edgar Allan Poes best works. From its abundance of the macabre to its lavishly extravagant cover and devastatingly dark illustrations this is one I will be reading to my bestie on a dark and stormy girls night :)
Deep with thoughts of Edgar Allan Poe my mind immediately flashed to Tim Burton and I had to find you a fashion forward photo shoot to lay out with this book post. So this is what I stumbled upon.
My childhood was filled with books, in fact, I dont think I was seen without a book in front of my face. Among my favourite were Roald Dahls collections which I have treasured ever since then and as an adult I have enjoyed many of his short stories too. So Vogue UK decided that this best loved children's author who wrote titles such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Matilda” and “James and the Giant Peach” deserved some attention and they enlisted Tim Burton (who of course directed one adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and produced another for James and the Giant Peach) and actors Helena Bonham Carter, Imelda Staunton and Jamie Bell to bring to life Dahl’s powerful vision through fashion.
Shot by Tim Walker, the editorial takes its name from Dahl’ successful short story collection.
My valentines wish is a trip to Disney land this year. I so enjoyed my last trip to Disneyland Paris as it takes my two favourite things, Disney and Paris, and jumbles them together in a mixture of romantic accents and vintage scenery. So in honour of my last trip and hopefully a future one here is photoshoot by David Burtons with Heather Marks as a life size, Haute Couture Disney character
The lovely Heather Marks takes a trip to Disneyland for a nostalgic cover shoot for Elle France. In front of David Burton’s lens, Heather meets Mickey Mouse and other memorable characters in the designs of Stella McCartney, Yves Saint Laurent, Emilio Pucci and others styled by Elissa Cannelle Castelbou.
This has inspired my couture Disney princess. Here are some dressing tips ala Mickey:
I think I need these. Cant wait to find out where they are available. I would rock these with black stockings and ankle boots for a winter night out. How glam!
Check these Garage Glitter "Knicker Shorts" out on the Lisp website
Wow so today I came across Lisp. This stunning label is reminiscent of a truly South African
Wildfox (my favorite casual label). Lisp's grunge style is perfect to dress up or down and you know you are going to look fabulous in any one of their pieces. Their profile reads "Lisp is about living out Rock and Roll. It’s about a drunken school night, it’s about having your favorite song stuck in your head for the whole day, about washing your hair over the sink while only wearing heels and about looking and feeling like royalty no matter what you do"
I absolutely love them and this is definitely going to be a label to look out for South Africa.
Go check out their shop and get one of their hot items while you still can <3
